To meet the needs of diverse surgical processes, our compression screws are available headless or with slim screw heads and in break-away configurations. Each compression bone screw is self-tapping for ease of insertion and utilizes sharp, double lead thread designs for quick advancement, positive mechanical hold, and stability.
Available in a wide variety of diameters or lengths and conveniently color-coded for ease of use, our available options include:
- Headed, Canulated Compression Screws
- Headless, Canulated Compression Screws
- Headed, Non-Canulated Break-Away Compression Screws

FDA-Cleared Compression Screws for Surgical Procedures
Compression bone screws have long been used to achieve bone fixation in the foot, hand, and elsewhere. They protect the fractured or reduced bone from bending, rotational, and minor loading forces while facilitating quicker healing. Compression screws are used for a variety of surgeries in the extremities, including procedures such as:
- Osteotomy
- Fixation
- Fusion
- Fracture
Trax Surgical products are manufactured in the USA by an FDA-registered and ISO 13485:2016-certified facility to ensure total quality control.
Canulated vs. Non-Canulated Compression Screws
Compression bone screws are available with canulated or non-canulated configurations.
Most of our compression screws are canulated and offer several advantages. They allow for more accurate placement, can be inserted percutaneously, can use guide pins for provisional fixation, and reduce the chance of angulation.
The Trax Surgical compression screw system also includes a set of non-canulated titanium screws. These headed, break-away screws are designed for small bones or bone fragments or where small screws are desired for optimum bone reconstruction, repair osteotomy, and fusion.
Titanium Bone Screws
Trax Surgical manufactures all compression screws from 6AL-4V-ELI titanium. Titanium is the ideal solution for manufacturing bone implants and medical devices and is widely used for surgical implants because of the material’s many high-performance characteristics:
- Corrosion resistance
- High strength-to-density ratio
- Biocompatibility
- Durability
